Call for Photo Action in Solidarity with F-SEDAR, Indonesia

Members of Federasi Serikat Buruh Demokratik Kerakyatan (F-SEDAR) in Indonesia have been struggling against the company Alpen Food Industry (AICE) for over 5 years. This has been sparked by Alpen Food’s continued disregard for even the most basic workers’ rights.

Workers have endured underpayment, inability to access leave, arbitrary demotion, re-classification of permanent workers to ‘contract’ workers, arbitrary suspension, mass layoffs and unsafe working conditions.

As of 2021, a total of 21 cases of miscarriage of pregnancy had been recorded by F-SEDAR among women workers at Alpen Food located in Bekasi, West Java. This has been due to the company forcing pregnant workers to meet usual production targets, lift heavy loads and work nightshifts. Alpen also refuse women workers their right to menstrual leave.

Over the course of this struggle, F-SEDAR members have continually been targeted by the company and many of them have lost their jobs.  Despite being intimated, laid off and replaced with outsourced workers, F-SEDAR members inside and outside the factory refuse to give up the fight.

They are calling on international supporters to show their solidarity through a photo action. Anybody who would like to participate, please send a picture of yourself and/or fellow comrades with any of the slogans below to redant.communication@gmail.com These will be forwarded to F-SEDAR leadership at the end of March 2023.
