In March 2023, leaders of the Federasi Serikat Buruh Demokratik Kerakyatan (F-SEDAR) made contact with Red Ant to discuss organising a photo action. The action was organised as a show of international solidarity with F-SEDAR’s campaign against the company Alpen Food Industry (AICE).

F-SEDAR have been struggling against AICE for over 5 years, demanding the most basic rights. Workers have endured underpayment, inability to access leave, arbitrary demotion, re-classification of permanent workers to ‘contract’ workers, arbitrary suspension, mass layoffs and unsafe working conditions. As of 2021, a total of 21 cases of miscarriage of pregnancy had been recorded by F-SEDAR among women workers at Alpen Food located in Bekasi, West Java.
